The building log book is a simple handbook, providing the building manager with easily understood information about how the building should work. It also allows ongoing building performance and major alterations to be recorded.

Building Log Books

The log book should be reviewed annually as part of the organisations quality assurance system and an entry should be made for each review.

Building Regulations Part L requires that building owners be provided with summary information about a new or refurbished building, its building services and their maintenance requirements in a building log book.

This covers how a building is intended to work and how it should be maintained and serviced. They also provide a means to record the energy

use and maintenance of the services within the building.

Log books provide a simple, easily accessible summary rather than the detail contained in O & M manuals.

We produce building log books in compliance with Part L based on the template and guidance in CIBSE TM31.
